The Truth Is

This book follows Verdad, a young girl struggling with her identity after traumatic events causing her to lose her best friend and become a little bit of an outcast. At school she’s ‘the weird girl’ that everyone talks about but doesn't talk to. At home she doesn’t fit into the perfect daughter that her mother wishes she could be. Even inside her mind, where her best friend’s voice fills her head, she still isn’t comfortable.

Verdad had always seen herself as an open minded person, or that was until now. Now she feels like the world’s most ignorant bigot. And when Danny shows up, things get even more complicated.

This story is of a queer, nuerodivergent girl who is struggling to find herself amidst the broken pieces of before.

I did like this book, the way it was written was just like being inside Verdad’s mind, it was a little hard to get into but once I was there I enjoyed the story very much.
