This book is about a very smart very exuberant nine year old named Sumac.
Sumac is the fifth out of her 7 siblings, all named after trees. Up until her dormant grandfather came to live with them Sumac her her perfectly sized family of 11 (seven kids, four parents) had living together down to a science. But when one of her dads’ (they call him PopCorn) dad shows up, the Lottery’s have to deal with an ever disapproving, ever grumpy eye hanging over them at all times. How will Sumac and all the other Lottery’s survive with their grandpa’s old fashioned eye on their alternative lifestyle? This book has always had a special place in my heart because I can relate to the Lottery’s. It definitely places on my “favorite books and audio books of all time’ list, and it will probably take place on yours too.
