This fantastic graphic novel follows the life of CeCe Bell *the author* as a kid.
When CeCe was just four years old she lost her hearing due to menginitis. And that was when the hearing aid hit the fan.
You see, as soon as CeCe entered traditional school, not only did she have trouble making friends, she had trouble making nice friends. Grade after grade, CeCe struggles with being different, then El Deafo enters the picture. El Deafo is her Deaf-proud alter ego who has all the friends and always says the right things. CeCe aspires to be like El Deafo, and one day she will be. I loved El Deafo for so many reasons, but alas, I can only put a few in: El Deafo is a great book to pick up for a captivating light read. El Deafo had great illustrations, they reminded me a lot of the Raina Telegemier books you know I love.
