Twelve-year-old June LOVES to read. Her over-protective parents, however, don't want her reading anything they seem "innapropraite".
That includes anything with "witchcraft" (like Harry Potter), excessive rebelion, or god forbid- cursing. So when June is found reading a book that has "witch" in the title, everything goes haywire. To make things worse, the book was borrowed from the school library. When June's parents go too far and ban any "innapropraite" book in her school's library, June has had enough. They aren't just discriminating her, but punishing her whole school. June quickly learns to rebel from her school's new rules and read all the banned books she can get her hands on. Suddenly, her reading is out of control, and much bigger than herself. This book is incredibly well written, and had me cheering June on the whole way. If you like books with plot twists, this one is for you.
